You-Pick Blueberries

Blueberries are predicted to be ready for pickin' late June
Blueberries are heading into their fifth season in Iowa City, and they're absolutely worth the wait.
Since blueberry bushes take two to three years to fully mature for you-pick, every season out here feels like a reward. The patch is tucked in along the farm, and picking by the box load is genuinely one of the most satisfying ways to spend a summer morning.
We grow two varieties: Bluecrop and Bluejay. Bluecrop is the all-purpose berry: juicy, sweet, and mild enough to eat straight from the bush or freeze by the quart for the rest of the year. Bluejay is our midseason variety: firm, light-blue berries that are a little more delicate in flavor and hold up beautifully for baking and cooking.
To keep the patch healthy and plentiful for everyone, we may occasionally close it midday to prevent over-picking (this helps ensure there are enough berries to go around throughout the season). If you're traveling from farther away, we recommend visiting earlier in the day or calling ahead at 319-354-5651 to check on patch availability.
