Details:
The Iowa Children’s Museum is excited to invite kids and families to participate in two festive and educational events this summer. As the United States approaches its 250th birthday, "We, The Kids" will engage children in community, connection, and civic literacy through playful activities from Memorial Day through the week of the Fourth of July. Kids can explore big ideas through hands-on experiences like designing their own community with wooden blocks or learning about the night sky while discovering how to positively impact their neighborhoods. Regular activities will occur on Wednesdays from 3–5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9–11 a.m., culminating in special visits during the Fourth of July week from local organizations.
Additionally, members can enjoy a quieter start to their day with Member Hour from 9–10 a.m., followed by the vibrant Chinese Dragon Boat Festival at 11:00 a.m., hosted in partnership with the Midwest Chinese Academy. This event includes a captivating storytime by Dr. Donglin Chai and hands-on activities like making Zongzi (rice dumplings) and participating in boat-themed fun. The festivities are included with general admission, providing a fantastic opportunity for cultural exploration and community connection. Join us for memorable experiences that spark curiosity and promote civic engagement!
