Chinese Dragon Boat Festival (with Midwest Chinese Academy)

Join us for a vibrant celebration of the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival at The Iowa Children’s Museum, in partnership with the Midwest Chinese Academy. Experience the rich traditions of this festival through immersive activities, including a special storytime with Dr. Donglin Chai at 11:00 a.m. and hands-on experiences such as making Zongzi (rice dumplings) and engaging in on-land boat games. Member-Only Hours for activities will be from 9-10 a.m., followed by public access from 10 a.m. to noon. Additionally, from Memorial Day to the week of July 4th, our “We, The Kids” initiative invites families to explore community and civic engagement through imaginative play with regular activities on Wednesdays from 3-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9-11 a.m., including special events during the Independence Day week.
