About:  ARTEMIS, founded by pianist/composer Renee Rosnes, is a prominent instrumental jazz ensemble featuring five virtuosos. ​ Their third album, “Arboresque,” set for release in February 2025, showcases evolving compositions and arrangements contributed by all members.
The band gained recognition after a 2018 Newport Jazz Festival performance, leading to a signing with Blue Note Records. They have performed extensively across North America and Europe, earning praise for their modern, rhythm-forward sound, and winning the #1 Group of the Year in the Downbeat Readers Poll in 2023 and 2024.
Members and Their Backgrounds:
Renee Rosnes, a leading jazz pianist and composer, has a distinguished career collaborating with jazz legends, releasing 18 albums, and winning multiple Juno awards. ​ She has also hosted jazz interview series and performed with her husband, Bill Charlap.
Ingrid Jensen, a highly regarded trumpeter, graduated from Berklee, has played with Maria Schneider and Darcy James Argue, and is recognized as Trumpeter of the Year (2019). ​ She is also an educator and has recorded acclaimed albums honoring Kenny Wheeler.
Nicole Glover, a rising saxophonist based in New York, has performed with Esperanza Spalding and others, and has toured internationally. ​ Her latest album, “Strange Lands,” was released in 2021, and she is active as an educator.
Noriko Ueda, originally from Japan, is an in-demand bassist with a background in classical piano and jazz. She graduated from Berklee, has led her own groups, and recorded a trio album that charted nationally.
Allison Miller, a renowned drummer and composer, leads her band Boom Tic Boom, has collaborated with numerous artists, and is involved in jazz education and commissioning projects. She is recognized as a leading figure in modern jazz drumming.
