Let's Dance: Polkas

This month's dance style is polkas. They’re more fun than you think! This class features two folk dances: the Pattycake Polka and the Broomstick Polka. In these, participants do a series of similar, simple steps for an energizing community experience. These two styles are “mixers” - dances usually scheduled for the beginning of an evening ball as a way to meet people in casual but intentional way. Danced in a community setting, these polkas encourage camaraderie among members and build trust between strangers who might become partners for future dances or events.
