Details:
Join us for an exciting day of outdoor activities at Rainbow Mountain Nature Preserve and Cane Creek Canyon, tailored for nature enthusiasts of all ages! We will kick off with a moderate hike on the Rainbow Loop Trail, lasting 1.5 to 2 hours and covering 1.5 miles, including a brief detour to Balance Rock Trail. This picturesque preserve, conveniently situated just outside downtown Madison, offers stunning views and a chance to connect with fellow hikers.
After the hike, participants are invited to engage in Trail Care at Cane Creek Canyon, where you’ll work alongside Land Stewards to maintain the trail system, tackling various tasks based on conditions and volunteer turnout. Expect to hike up to 3 miles during this maintenance effort; no prior experience is necessary, but sturdy, closed-toe shoes, water, snacks, and gloves are recommended.
In a related event for seniors aged 60 and older, the Senior Saunter invites you to explore Green Mountain Nature Preserve's Alum Hollow Trailhead at your leisure, enjoying activities like birdwatching or journaling amidst scenic waterfalls and diverse flora.
Both activities require registration, and you will receive notifications via email in case of cancellations due to weather or trail conditions. Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and support trail maintenance while enjoying the company of fellow outdoor lovers!
