Join us for an informative presentation with Darren Kolakowski, who serves as both the Emergency Manager for Las Animas County and Fire Chief for Hoehne.
Drawing on years of experience in emergency response and public safety, Darren will discuss wildfire management, the impacts of wildfire on wildlife and natural resources, how Stage 2 fire restrictions are evaluated and eventually lifted, and what residents can do to prepare for emergencies before they happen. He will also share valuable information on protecting pets, livestock, and other animals during emergencies, along with practical preparedness strategies for individuals and families.
Whether you're interested in wildfire safety, emergency planning, or learning how local agencies work together to protect our communities, this program offers a unique opportunity to hear from one of the region’s leading emergency management professionals.
Activities are rain or shine. The amphitheater is located past the Visitor Center on Carpios Ridge. Follow the signs for the walking trail. These activities are free to the public, however all vehicles are required to have a Park Pass. You can purchase a pass at the Visitor Center or any of our self-serve stations.
