Explore the rich history and adventure of Florida’s frontier in this program inspired by “A Land Remembered” by Patrick Smith, presented by Ross Lamoreaux of Chinsegut Hill Historic Site. In this talk, Ross will guide the audience through the struggles, triumphs, and legacy of the MacIvey family as they carved out a life in the untamed wilderness, from cattle ranching to encounters with Florida’s natural world. Attendees will gain insight into the historical, cultural, and environmental themes of the novel and learn how determination, family, and connection to the land shaped Florida’s past!
