Hatha yoga is a great way to maintain a healthy and flexible body by renewing and refreshing your energies with an alignment of Asana Sequences, designed to tone and strengthen the muscles while focusing on your breath in a mindful practice.
This class is based upon Yoga traditions, encompass a range of practices including physical postures, breathing exercises, meditation, and subtle body work in a specifically designed order. The aim is to deepen the state of spiritual and physical harmony, through purification of the mind and body.
It is excellent for students who appreciate longer holds in postures and prefer a slower and more meditative approach allowing time to feel the benefits of a pose. A guided deep relaxation meditation or held savasana is provided at the end of each class. This is a time for you to slow down. Students are encouraged to accept themselves where they are in their practice without expectations. All levels are welcomed and encouraged.
Hatha Yoga is Not Heated - Room temperature around 75 degrees.
The class will use several props including a folding chair, the wall, block, physio-ball, strap, blanket, and bolsters to aid in the accessibility, awareness, and intention of a yoga poses.
Over time one may find greater mobility in areas of the body which are habitually stiff and underused while building a more stable foundation in problem areas such as the lower back, neck, and shoulder joints from a steady consistent practice.
We are only as young as our spine and as we age it is increasingly important to systematically move in all directions in a consistent practice.
