Details:
Is your child a storyteller at heart? This summer, kids get to create a real picture book — from the first word to the final page — and publish it in whatever format they choose.
Write it. Illustrate it. Publish it. They’ll walk away with a book that is truly theirs.
No experience needed, just curiosity and a love of stories. Whether your child wants a fun handmade keepsake or a professionally formatted book they can share with the world, we’ll help them get there. Publishing options range from casual and creative to professional, and we’ll guide them through every choice along the way.
This free program meets every Wednesday in June and July, offered through the Waikiki-Kapahulu Public Library. Open to all students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Older teens and adults with a passion for storytelling are welcome to join us as well.
Your instructor: Ruth Pukahi
Ruth is the Children’s Librarian at Waikiki-Kapahulu Public Library and a former elementary school teacher. She has guided students through writing and publishing their own books and brings real publishing experience to every session. Ruth has published six chapter books on Amazon and knows the journey from blank page to finished book firsthand.
