Why Big Steps?

The Seedlings Scope and Sequence is designed to support children as they take important Big Steps in their learning and

development. Each skill and learning experience intentionally builds upon previous knowledge, helping children progress

toward meaningful developmental milestones. As children explore, discover, create, communicate, and problem-solve, they

are taking Big Steps in areas such as language and literacy, social-emotional development, physical growth, cognitive

learning, and creative expression. By following the Seedlings Scope and Sequence, educators can intentionally plan experiences that meet children where they are and guide them toward their next Big Step. These milestones represent more than isolated skills—they are significant achievements that demonstrate children's growing independence, confidence, curiosity, and readiness for future learning.
