Details:
Join us for the Hemlock Stream Health Hike with the Hemlock Restoration Initiative on Thursday, July 9, from 5 to 7 pm. This evening hike will take place along Bent Creek in an HRI Hemlock Conservation Area, emphasizing the ecological importance of eastern hemlocks in the southern Appalachian stream habitats. Participants will learn about how hemlocks support cold headwaters, stabilize stream banks, and provide essential habitats for aquatic life, as well as the threats they face and the conservation efforts underway.
The hike is a relatively flat, 2-mile out-and-back route suitable for all participants, following easy trails and paved walkways. The event is free for Arboretum members, while non-members are required to pay a $25 per car gate fee. In case of inclement weather, the hike will be rescheduled to July 15. Please dress for outdoor conditions and be prepared to spend the entire time outside. For questions or assistance regarding costs, contact adulteducation@ncarboretum.org. Don't forget to register and follow us on social media for updates!
