The Mildred P. Allen Memorial Library, part of the University of Hartford's Harrison Libraries, specializes in music, dance, and performing arts resources. Originally founded as the Hartt Library in 1938, it now resides on the lower level of the Harrison Libraries building. The library offers a comprehensive collection of music and dance materials, including books, printed music, CDs, DVDs, VHS, LP records, and journals. It provides access to music and dance-related online materials, as well as desktop Mac computers, printers, a scanner, and a copier. Additionally, it features private carrels, study tables, and portable audio and video recording equipment. The Mildred P. Allen Memorial Library serves as a vital learning hub and intellectual center for The Hartt School, with its services, collections, and facilities accessible to the entire University community. The library underwent a significant expansion and renovation in 2017, moving into a new 6,475-square-foot space where it maintains its distinct identity as a "library within a library."
