Raku Firing: Full Day Workshop with Jake

The basics One-day workshop, Sunday, September 20, 10am till about 4pm Participants should come prepared with work to glaze and fire (details below.) No raku experience is necessary for this event! If you can make pots and get them bisqued, you're welcome to join (ages 18+) . Raku can be a lot of fun. Pulling pieces out of the kiln is exciting, and you can get some interesting surfaces that aren't possible with other firing methods. Join studio owner Jake Johnson for a one-day raku workshop! You'll bring your own pieces with you. The studio will provide raku glazes and Jake will give you some ideas and instruction for applying them. You'll glaze and fire all in one day. What should participants bring on the day of firing? Bring bisque-fired work with you. We will glaze it on the day of the workshop. Pieces should not be too heavy, too thick, or very large. Size is limited to 6 inches wide and 14 inches tall. Bring 8 or fewer pieces. Lids count as a separate piece. Oversized pieces will count against your quantity limit. Broad bowls and plates are not well-suited to this group firing. Pieces must be bisque-fired before the day of the workshop. What will be provided? Glazes and materials needed for firing will be provided by the studio. Studio management will be responsible for operation of the kiln and other firing procedures. Plan to bring a lunch or step out at mid-day to grab something. *Please note that this workshop is limited to adults aged 18 or older.* What's it cost? What's the fee include? Participation is $150 per student. (Members of the studio receive a discount. Make sure you're logged in when you sign up in order to receive it.)
