Details:
The basics Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 9am-noon This raku firing is only for members of the studio who have previously completed a whole-day raku firing. (We will not bisque or glaze as part of this workshop; work must be ready to go in the kiln. Email with questions.) We need a minimum of 4 people registered in order to run it. Maximum of 8. Are you a member of the studio? Have you already been part of one of Jake's full-day raku workshops? Wanna fire some more stuff? Cool, come do a half day! This is how the half-day raku firing will work: Before the day of the firing, you will make some stuff, bisque fire it, and get it glazed and ready to go on your own time. On the day of the firing, you'll show up and hang out to help a little bit and watch all the cool stuff come out of the kiln. There is a limit to the amount of work that will be fired during the 3 hour firing. Participants should bring 8 or fewer pieces. Lids count as a separate piece. Pieces should be no more than 6 inches wide and 14 inches tall. Anything over that size limit will count against your quantity limit. Plates or broad flat pieces are discouraged. Pieces must be bisque-fired and glazed before the day of the workshop. Studio management will be responsible for operation of the kiln and other firing procedures. *Please note that this workshop is limited to adults aged 18 or older.* What's it cost? What's the fee include? Participation is $60 per person. No discount for members, as this event is limited to members. The cost of the firing includes use of the studio's raku glazes. If you're interested in purchasing commercial glazes, please have a chat with Jake before you do. Where? At the studio, mostly outside. About the studio: Make Waynesboro Clay Studio is operated by Jake Johnson Ceramics LLC.
