Details:
Miles for Mark is an annual celebration of life for Pedals and Pints founding member Mark Rupert. The evening is about riding, remembering Mark, and raising money for local charities — something he was truly proud of. After the ride, we hold a raffle with prizes from sponsors, bike shops, and local organizations. You can purchase as many tickets as you’d like. This year, money collected goes to the Millheim Pool, home of the Penns Valley Penguins Swim Team, which is currently undergoing major repairs.
PLEASE RSVP! In case we need to invite a 2nd food truck for the crowd.
–> Can’t make it? Direct donations to the pool can be made anytime here: givebutter.com/bring-our-team-home-save-the-millheim-pool-6jnpal
About “Mark” in Miles for Mark.
Mark — founding member of PVPP, Roy’s brother, and our support driver — loved cycling year-round, logging more hours than most. He rode to work, to Elk Creek, and to meet up with friends and family even in winter. Mark passed away three years ago. Each June, we ride in his honor and raise a glass to his legacy, positivity, laughter, and friendship. Never met Mark? That’s okay — join us and raise one anyway! We know he would have loved meeting you.
Routes
As always, we’ll ride Mark’s favorite route… The Apple Butter Loop – 20+ miles (DOWNLOAD). We’re also offering an alternative route to the Coburn Tunnel and Bridge (DOWNLOAD), for those joining us mainly in support of the pool and looking for a much flatter and relaxing out and back at only 9 miles. Please be aware that cell service is spotty from Coburn to the Bridge. We will offer a support on this route, but encourage you to ride with others should someone need to bike out to get cell service.
Apple Butter Loop – 20.7 Miles
Shortcut: turn around at the Woodward Post Office (intersection of route 45) – 16 miles
Coburn Tunnel Bridge Route – 9 miles
Adam and Nancy’s Paninis will be the Food Truck serving the group. As always, Jay will be pouring Elk Creek brews. after the ride and we’ll hang out under the new Millheim Fire Company pavilion.
