Ribbon Cutting for Looking at US: Celebrating America’s 250th Mural

Details:

Welcome – 5:00 P.M.Open Remarks – 5:10 P.M.Ribbon Cutting – 5:30 P.M.

Join us to celebrate the launch of Looking at US: Celebrating America’s 250th, a new public art initiative transforming sites across downtown State College into a vibrant cultural corridor where campus and community meet.

Featuring reproductions of large-scale portrait murals from the Palmer Museum of Art’s American collection, Looking at US invites us to look back, look inward, and look ahead through artworks that spark reflection, dialogue, and connection.

These installations activate downtown façades, sidewalks, and local businesses, creating a seamless and walkable cultural corridor that links Penn State’s artistic resources with the broader community.

We’ll gather at East End Social for the ribbon cutting before heading out on a self-guided public art walk to explore installations across downtown. Attendees will receive an updated Downtown State College Public Art Walk Guide featuring the new mural locations.
