Details:
Join Lepidopterist Clara Aus for Moth Observation Night at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, a captivating evening of moth-related activities in honor of National Moth Week. As night falls, Clara will set up a moth observation sheet and special UV lamps to attract these nocturnal insects. Participants will enjoy a brief introduction to Virginia's native moths, followed by a hands-on experience in the woods to observe and document the moths landing on the sheet, capturing photographs for citizen science on iNaturalist. Attendees will receive informative handouts, play rounds of Bug Bingo, and have a chance to win the book “Moths: A Complete Guide to Biology & Behavior.” Fees are $35 for members and $44 for non-members. Pre-registration is required through the website, and accommodations can be requested for inclusive participation.
