Join author and artist Rob Mullen in celebrating his new book Boreal Wilderland!
From the Wilderness River Expedition Art Fellowship (WREAF) comes this visually spectacular celebration of the world’s largest - and most overlooked - terrestrial ecosystem with a foreword by Robert Bateman. The boreal forest, a vast northern wilderness that encircles the globe, is three times the size of the Amazon, has the photosynthetic output of over a trillion trees, and is within a day’s drive of major urban centers such as New York City, Chicago, Vancouver, and Moscow, and within an hour of Montreal. Yet most people have no idea that wilderness on this scale still exists. In Boreal Wilderland, acclaimed wildlife and wilderness artist, expedition canoeist, and naturalist Rob Mullen presents a stunning, multifaceted portrait of this immense and breathtaking biome.Rob Mullen is a Wildlife and Wilderness artist. A Signature Member Society of Animal Artists since 2001. He’s received dozens of awards, including three Best of Shows in over 80 exhibits from coast to coast, UK, and Europe. Mullen is also the Founder/Director: WREAF at The Center for Circumpolar Studies. WREAF was founded in 2005, after contacting the Smithsonian’s Arctic Studies Center (ASC) at the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) regarding a proposed project on the boreal forest. WREAF became a program of The Center for Circumpolar Studies in 2013. WREAF has provided 30 nationally and internationally known wildlife and landscape artists with full immersion in the boreal forest and tundra to inspire their work through a series of over 20 wilderness art expeditions, mostly by canoe.
