Details:
In this two-hour introductory soft pastel class, participants will explore the beauty and versatility of soft pastels while learning foundational techniques in a relaxed and supportive environment. The class will begin with a brief introduction to pastel materials, paper types, and essential tools, followed by short warm-up exercises that allow participants to practice mark-making, blending, and color layering. After observing a demonstration of key pastel techniques such as blocking in shapes, creating soft blends, and building highlights, students will apply these skills to create their own finished pastel artwork, such as a simple landscape or nature-inspired scene. Throughout the session, the instructor will provide guidance and individualized feedback while encouraging experimentation and creative expression. The class will conclude with time to add final details and share completed artworks, giving participants both new skills and a finished piece to take home.
