From humble beginnings in 1957, South Boston Speedway has evolved into a renowned NASCAR short track, launching the careers of racing legends. Established by Halifax County figures E.B. "Buck" Wilkins and Dave Blount, the track started as a quarter-mile dirt venue before transforming into a modern four-tenths-mile oval. With rich history, it hosted its first NASCAR race in 1960, featuring icons like Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. Today, it continues to thrive, embracing innovation and enhancing fan experiences, while remaining a cherished staple in the motorsports community.
