Details:
Join us for a trail maintenance event on the Neahkahnie Gap Trail, where we will be trimming back brush and performing essential upkeep on the Oregon Coast Trail between Manzanita and the Neahkahnie Mountain trailhead. Led by Crew Leader Mark W., this opportunity accommodates a maximum crew of 12 volunteers. Participants will cover a moderate 3-mile hike with an elevation gain of 600 feet while engaging in moderate tread work, enhancing the trail surface using shovels and digging tools.
We will park at the Headwaters Trailhead located at the intersection of Highway 101 and Nehalem Road. Please arrive on time and plan to stay for the entire duration of the event for safety reasons. Detailed directions and additional information will be sent to registrants via email 48 hours before the event.
What to bring: plenty of water, snacks/lunch, work gloves (loaner gloves available), any personal medications or emergency supplies, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a sturdy pack for your gear. Appropriate attire includes boots (no open-toed shoes), long sleeves, and pants, along with weather-appropriate layers.
TKO honors the Indigenous tribes and communities whose traditional lands host these trails. We encourage inclusivity and seek to accommodate individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities. If you require accommodations, please submit a request at least two weeks in advance.
Safety is our top priority, and we are committed to fostering a welcoming environment free from discrimination. While masks are no longer required, we support those who choose to wear them. Join us in giving back to the forest landscape while enjoying nature and camaraderie!
