Details:
Join us for the Mount Tabor Stairs Installation project in Portland, where we’ll enhance accessibility by constructing nine timber box steps with railings that connect the long flight of stairs. This moderate-intensity work will involve excavating, placing, leveling, and securing the timber, as well as compacting gravel around the steps.
Led by Crew Leader Susan S. and with a maximum crew size of six, participants will embark on a short, 0.2-mile hike to the project site, gaining less than 50 feet in elevation. The work will be paced comfortably, allowing for detail-oriented efforts and breaks.
Please bring plenty of water, snacks or lunch, work gloves (or borrow some), any necessary medications or emergency supplies, sunscreen, and a sturdy pack. Wear protective footwear (no open-toed shoes), and dress appropriately for the weather with long sleeves and pants.
Detailed directions and additional event information will be sent via email 48 hours before the project. We encourage inclusivity and respect for all backgrounds, and accommodations can be discussed by completing a short survey in advance. TKO acknowledges the traditional lands of Indigenous tribes and emphasizes a commitment to equity and inclusion in outdoor spaces. Your safety is our top priority; please report any discomfort or unsafe situations to a crew leader or TKO staff.
Join us in contributing to the local trail community while appreciating and respecting the land's history!
