Details:
Join us for a trail repair event on the Larch Mountain Trail in the Gorge, where we will fix damaged tread and install curb logs along this highly frequented hiking path. Led by Crew Leader Hope McKee, the project involves a 3-mile hike with an 800-foot elevation gain, making it a high-intensity hike and a moderate work effort. We will trek up the steep Multnomah Falls switchbacks to the worksite near Weisendagner Falls, so participants should be prepared for a challenging uphill hike of about 1.5 miles.
Participants are required to stay for the entirety of the event for safety reasons. Detailed information will be sent via email 48 hours before the event, and first-time volunteers can read a blog for insights on what to expect.
What to bring: plenty of water, snacks/lunch, work gloves (loaners available), any necessary medications, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a backpack for carrying items. All tools and personal protective equipment will be provided. Proper attire includes sturdy boots, long sleeves, and appropriate weather gear.
This event also emphasizes respect for Indigenous lands, promotes equity and inclusion, prioritizes participants' safety, and encourages respectful interactions among volunteers. Accommodation requests are welcome and need to be made at least two weeks in advance. Join us in preserving this cherished outdoor space while connecting with nature and fellow volunteers!
