Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum is Colorado's official air and space museum, dedicated to educating, inspiring, and exciting all people about aviation and space endeavors. Located in Hangar 1 of the former Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, the museum preserves the history of Lowry AFB's operations from 1938 to 1994 through its collections, archives, and research library. It features over 70 historic aircraft, space vehicles, and interactive exhibits, including rare bombers and fighters. Beyond its exhibits, Wings Over the Rockies offers robust STEM educational programs for youth, aiming to inspire innovation and prepare the next generation of aerospace professionals. The museum also has a second location, Exploration of Flight, at Centennial Airport, which focuses on modern flight through interactive exhibits and live aircraft. The organization was founded by volunteers in 1994 and became Colorado's official air and space museum in 1997.
