The process, which involves pushing yarn through a canvas using a tufting gun to create plush, textured surfaces, lends itself beautifully to the creation of contemporary art, functional pieces, and cozy home décor.
Tufting is a technique used to create textiles, particularly rugs and wall hangings, by inserting loops of yarn through a primary fabric using a tufting gun.
Our tufting workshop is a hands-on, immersive experience. These workshops are structured to guide you through each step, ensuring even participants with no prior experience leave with a finished piece.
Introduction and Inspiration: Workshops typically begin with a brief overview of the basics of tufting, including a showcase of finished pieces for inspiration. Instructors discuss the various types of yarn, fabric, and tools used in the process.
Designing Your Piece: Participants are encouraged to select from templates provided by the studio or send in their own design/image. The design is then transferred onto the canvas, which is stretched tightly onto a frame.
Learning the Tools: The instructor demonstrates how to use the tufting gun safely and effectively.
Tufting Your Artwork: With guidance, participants begin tufting, pushing yarn through the cloth to fill in their design. This stage is meditative, rhythmic, and deeply satisfying.
Finishing Touches: Once tufting is complete, you will secure the yarn and apply the backing. Excess fabric is trimmed. You will then be shown how to use the shaver to even out yarn. And you will take your completed home the same night!

Ages 12 and above.
Small rug is approximately 17" and will take around 3 hours.
Medium rug is approximately 22" and will take around 3.5 hours.
Large rug is approximately 28" and will take around 4 hours.
