VFI PAS Consumer Fishing Trip

Are you a VFI PAS consumer (do you receive Personal Assistance Services/home care from Voices for Independence)? Do you love fishing, or want to try fishing for the first time? Join us on Monday, July 27, from 10am-2pm for our very first PAS Consumer Fishing Trip, in conjunction with At The Lake Ministries! We will be boarding at the Cookhouse Pavilion/Ferry Dock on Presque Isle State Park in Erie, with transportation available to/from our Washington, PA office as well! The Jo-Ann M boat accommodates approximately 10–12 PAS consumers with disabilities, along with their caregivers or support staff, for a maximum of 24 passengers. The boat is wheelchair accessible with a boarding ramp and removable seating for wheelchairs, complete with an accessible restroom. There are spacious seating arrangements, and wheelchairs can be secured while on board.
For our trip, you can expect a relaxing fishing & boating experience on Lake Erie, with a trip designed specifically for individuals with disabilities (noise-canceling headphones, blankets, and a weighted blanket are available upon request, with therapy and emotional support animals welcome). While all fishing equipment, bait, and lifejackets are provided, guests are also welcome to bring their own fishing gear if they prefer. Just be sure to bring comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather, including a light jacket or sweatshirt (temperatures on the lake can be cooler), sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses (recommended), any medications you may need during the trip, snacks & drinks if desired, camera or phone for pictures, and a fishing license (only if required for those planning to fish; At The Lake Ministries can clarify any licensing requirements for your group).
Trips typically proceed even if it is rainy or breezy because the bay is well protected and the vessel has covered areas. If severe weather makes the trip unsafe, At The Lake Ministries will reschedule. For any further questions, please contact Rayshawn at (814) 874-0064.
