Details:
Are you working on a book, or have one finished? Publishing can be an exciting but daunting next step. Our local author, Sharon Cohen, will be presenting on the various processes and avenues for getting your book out in the world. Please note that this program will be done in two sessions, Thursday, June 11 and Monday, June 15. Over two million books are published in the U. S. alone, a number that keeps growing. The combination of the internet, social media, new technologies, and now AI, has exploded the publishing world. Add to this the decline of traditional publishing and the continued growth of hybrid publishers, for good and bad, and the numbers soar. This causes a dilemma for those considering entering the fray for many different reasons: It is much easier to publish but much more difficult to market and sell. In So You Want to Write a Book, the first virtual session will cover what is involved in making this decision. In the second session (June 15) , we will cover the specific steps entailed once you decide. Note: I am purposely using the word write not publish, since they mean something very different. Please register to receive the Zoom link. Prior to our meeting, please send a note to programs@chboothlibrary.org on why you are interested in this topic. Do you have a specific plan in mind, if so, what? Or, are you giving it some thought and still considering? Sharon has been writing since she won an essay contest at the age of 4. She was a communication specialist for non-profits and businesses, and traditionally/self-published several non-fiction books, including one top award, as well as numerous print and online articles. She is now playing around with fiction.
