The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, founded in 1964 by Larry Aldrich, is one of the oldest contemporary art museums in the United States and the only museum in Connecticut dedicated solely to contemporary art. As an independent, non-collecting institution, The Aldrich focuses on presenting the work of emerging and established artists through dynamic exhibitions, often featuring the first solo museum shows for emerging artists. The museum serves as a vital cultural resource and a leading incubator for artists, providing a collaborative platform that engages and inspires. Its mission includes fostering a deeper understanding and enjoyment of contemporary art through thought-provoking, interdisciplinary exhibitions and programs. The Aldrich also offers educational programs for students and the community, aiming to connect visitors of all ages with contemporary art through workshops, tours, and presentations. The museum's campus includes exhibition galleries, a studio space for learning and making, and a sculpture garden.
