The Lewisboro Library is a historic public library serving the Town of Lewisboro, New York, and its hamlets. Established in 1798 as the Salem Library, it is one of New York State's oldest chartered voluntary libraries. Its mission is to provide the community with free, uncensored access to information through diverse media and services, offering educational, cultural, recreational, and civic engagement opportunities in a welcoming environment. The library provides access to a wide range of materials, including books, digital media like eBooks and audiobooks, and offers services such as computer and internet access, museum passes, and discovery backpacks. It hosts numerous programs for all age groups, from children's story times and STEM programs to adult book groups and technology coaching. The library building underwent a significant renovation and expansion completed in 2015, featuring a dedicated children's room, quiet study spaces, and a conference room with modern audiovisual capabilities. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it receives partial funding from the Town of Lewisboro and relies on private donations to support its operations and enhance its offerings.
