Details:
Mark 50 years of the 500 Mile Sculpture Garden with an artist talk by John Raimondi—insights, stories, and the impact of public art across Nebraska. Raimondi discusses the I-80 BSP, and his other Nebraska pieces: Athleta on the University of NE-Kearney campus and Dance of the Cranes at Eppley Airport in Omaha.
About the 500-Mile Sculpture Garden Artist Talk Series:
In 1976, the I-80 Sculpture Project brought bold, visionary public art to Nebraska’s
interstate corridor as part of the United States Bicentennial. In 2026, Nebraska Arts Council is honoring its 50th anniversary as part of America 250 with statewide programming: rededication ceremonies, a series of artist talks featuring John Raimondi and other project leaders, exhibits exploring the project’s origins, and new educational initiatives for schools and libraries. All events are free and open to the public. Join us in celebrating this milestone of creativity, history, and community.
More information about the statewide celebration, including additional events and
submission opportunities for local organizations, is available at:
