Details:
Join us on Saturday, June 6, for a day of outdoor community engagement at two events: National Trails Day at Branched Oak State Recreation Area and the Weigand Marina Open House at the Crofton Haymarket. From 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers at Branched Oak will help with bike-optimized trail maintenance, including clearing debris and trimming overgrowth to keep trails safe for all visitors. No experience is necessary, and guidance will be provided. Bring work gloves, closed-toe shoes, and hydration. A valid Nebraska state park vehicle permit is required for park entry.
Meanwhile, the Weigand Marina Open House invites the public to discuss the marina's expansion at the Crofton Haymarket, covering operations, logistics, and design details. Current boat slip holders are especially encouraged to participate. Both events offer a chance to contribute to our recreational spaces and learn about important projects in our parks. For questions about the trail maintenance event, contact Jesse Petersen at jesse.petersen@nebraska.gov.
