Details:
The Beaumont Heritage Society is excited to present the opening of its latest exhibit, “Learning Through Play: Educational Toys in the Chambers Family Collection,” on July 30th, 2026, at the Chambers House Museum. This exhibit highlights how a middle-class household in early 20th-century Southeast Texas fostered an environment where learning extended beyond the classroom, contributing to the academic success of two college-educated women. Through an exploration of the Chambers family's toys, photographs, and personal artifacts, visitors can see how play began to serve as an educational tool. Central to the exhibit is a recreated mock “classroom” where guests can engage with toys like alphabet blocks and storybooks, rediscovering the joy of learning through play. A free opening reception will follow on July 31st, from 10 am to 2 pm, featuring discussions with Ms. Morgan and Collections Manager Jayden Franke, along with light refreshments. The reception is open to the public, with no registration required. The museum is located at 2240 Calder Ave, Beaumont, TX 77701.
