Discovery Day at the Arboretum

Craft time awaits on the first Tuesday of the month at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens in our LongHouse Visitors Center. Little explorers are invited to enjoy nature and creativity free of charge! Each month, a new make-and-take project unfolds on Discovery Day. Crafting supplies are included, and the projects are available on a first-come, first-served basis to the first 100 participants. The first Tuesday of the month also happens to be Free Admission Day at the Arboretum, so entry into the gardens and this project are all free! 2026 projects: January 6 - Bird binoculars February 3 - Paint and art show March 3 - Ladybug rock painting April 7- Flower press May 5 - Paper bag kites June 2- Paper spinner and/or Pinwheel July 7 - Grass hair planters August 4 - Nature journals September 1 - Build a bug and/or Bug hotel October 6 - Bat rockets November 3 - Leaf suncatchers December 1 - Bean mosaic art
