Details:
Celebrate Independence Day at the 4th of July Celebration with the Mustard Cutters on Saturday, July 4, from 12-4 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Music Center's plaza. Join us for a free, lively afternoon featuring the old-time string band Mustard Cutters—composed of Gina Dilg on fiddle, Tyler Hughes and Ivy Sheppard on guitar and banjo, and Hasee Ciaccio on bass—performing danceable tunes as well as square dancing led by Tyler. The event also includes educational programs with Ranger Conrad Shirk discussing the Overmountain Men, and Aubrey Arrington presenting “The Science Behind Stringed Instruments.” Enjoy delicious food from The Bluffs Restaurant on-site and bring a chair and picnic for an enjoyable day of music, dance, and celebration, commemorating America's 250th birthday. Please note that there will be no evening concert on this day. This event is part of the Backstories series, highlighting the stories behind Appalachian music traditions.
