Bowdoin’s Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum is a dedicated space celebrating Arctic exploration and culture, named for alumni Robert E. Peary and Donald B. MacMillan. Established in 1967, the museum's collections grew through MacMillan's donations of expedition artifacts and a wealth of historical materials. The Arctic Studies Center, formed in the 1980s, further deepened Bowdoin's engagement with northern research and Indigenous communities. As the Arctic faces transformative climate challenges, the museum plays a critical role in fostering understanding and nurturing the next generation of innovative leaders.
