**Dancing on the Square: A Celebration of Community and Heritage in Robbinsville**
Dancing on the Square is a cherished Friday tradition in Robbinsville, N.C., returning with an expanded season from May 15 to August 28, 2026. This lively event features a variety of performances, including returning favorites and newcomers, as well as special America 250th Square Dance Celebrations on June 19 and August 28, led by Grammy-nominated musician Darren Nicholson and esteemed dance caller Heidi Kulas. Both celebrations welcome dancers of all ages and experience levels, emphasizing that no prior dance knowledge is needed—“if you can walk, you can square dance!”
The series pays homage to Southern Appalachian dance traditions, as the community fills the courthouse square with movement, music, and joy every Friday evening. Held from 7:30 to 9:30 PM, if it rains, the festivities will move to the Graham County Community Building. The full summer lineup includes an array of performances by local bands, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere of classic country, bluegrass, and more.
Dancing on the Square is not only a night of fun but also a celebration of Graham County's cultural heritage and America's 250th birthday, fostering connections through music and dance. All events are free and open to the public, making it accessible for both locals and visitors to join in the spirit of community and celebration.
