Details:
Dancing on the Square is a cherished Friday night tradition in Robbinsville, N.C., returning with an expanded season from May 15 to August 28, 2026. This year, the event includes a lineup of beloved and new performers, featuring two special America 250th Square Dance Nights on June 19 and August 28. The celebrations will be led by Grammy-nominated bluegrass musician Darren Nicholson and renowned dance caller Heidi Kulas, who will guide participants of all ages and experience levels through the fun of square dancing—no prior dance skills needed.
Each Friday evening, the Robbinsville Courthouse Square transforms into a lively dance hall as locals and visitors come together to enjoy a blend of mountain music and dance. The series celebrates Southern Appalachian traditions that have been a part of the community for 250 years, encouraging everyone to get on their feet and enjoy the rhythm. The full summer lineup includes performances from various local bands, including a special Oldies Night with The Sundown Band, known for their covers of classic songs from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s.
Dancing on the Square is produced by a collaboration between several local organizations and is free to the public. In case of rain, events will be relocated to the Graham County Community Building. Join the community for an unforgettable evening of music, dance, and celebration of the region's rich cultural heritage!
