Details:
We are celebrating our neurodivergent friends and patrons by hosting sensory-friendly experiences throughout the museum.
Sensory week will allow children and their families to explore the museum without the noise and stimulation of a typical day.
Lighting and noise levels will be reduced all week long in all applicable spaces.
During sensory week, kids can enjoy tabletop sensory bins in the Russ Hatter Library, a sensory light table where they can explore the fun of translucent building blocks, and all kinds of fidget toys!
Noise-cancelling headphones will be available at the front desk on a first-come, first-serve basis. Silicon worry stones will also be available for loan at the front for those wanting to explore the museum with fidget toys in hand. For the explorers and historians who may need a break, we’ll have a designated Chill Zone.
