Anagama Wood Firing ClassSunday, 8/9 from 4-7Sunday 8/16 from 4-6Cost $110Levels: Intermediate to AdvancedBroadway Clay in Downtown Frankfort is offering a Cone 10 Woodfired Anagama Kiln class where students will learn techniques in throwing for a woodfire, how an anagama kiln is fired, trimming and additions advice, and the opportunity to fire in the Danville Anagama kiln. This class will be taught by Jonas HurleyLink to Danville Center for the Arts and Anagama KilnCost includes: Firing Fee for Anagama15 lbs of cone 10 clay (You can purchase more clay with your class here) 4 hours of throwing and instruction2 hours of instruction on anagama kilns, glazing, trimming and preparing your pots for a wood firingCone 10 glazeMandatory Volunteering:Students will be required to sign up for at least 1 six hour shift in Danville at the kiln. A wood firing anagama kiln is a huge time and prep commitment. Students will have opportunities to bring pots to the kiln, see and possibly help with loading, add wood to the kiln, learn about the structure of the kiln, learn how to maintain temperatures, unload the kiln, and clean up pieces.
