Details:
The Contemporary Architecture and Design Series will feature talks by a select group of innovative designers who will share their practice and explore design today.
Graduating from the École Nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris in 2016 with honors, Florian Dach(1990) and Dimitri Zephir (1992) form the duo dach&zephir.
Conceived as a free creative space, they cross their experiences – which have their roots in between Paris and Guadeloupe – in search of what makes history and identity. The thinking of Martinican writer Édouard Glissant and what he called the Tout-Monde (tr. Whole-World concept) self-evidently became their guiding light.
Their multi-faceted research project Élòj kréyòl (2015) is a product of those convictions : it looks at the forgotten, fractured, downplayed or neglected cultural and artisan histories of the Creole societies of the West Indies and uses design to create the means to propose a contemporary vision through the production of cultural artefacts.
