Specialty materials are provided & included in the fee (unryu paper, brushes to use in the wax, hot wax pots, etc) Students will need to have experience in watercolor. All participants will paint the same painting (sunflowers, in this case) in order to complete the project in two days Brighten you week with sunflowers! Learning the process of wax batik yields lessons that apply across all painting and drawing media. The process of watercolor wax batik will be explained, demonstrated and practiced in this hands-on, intensive workshop. Learn how to select the best photos to work from, plan your painting, build the multiple layers of wax and watercolor and then do the final batiking and the “reveal.”Topics covered will include:Recognizing value changes (light to dark) Review of color – color harmonies, analogous & complementary colorsPlanning your painting; first wax application – and initial wash of watercolorContinuing with the planning/diagramming processBuilding up the layersBatiking your paintingThe “reveal” – removing the wax, sharing the result
