The Brothertown Indian Nation is a tribal nation in Wisconsin dedicated to maintaining its government, promoting the well-being of its citizens, and preserving its unique historical, cultural, and traditional beliefs. Their mission includes restoring and protecting their sovereignty for self-determination and self-sufficiency, fostering integrity and respect in their initiatives, and promoting peace and harmony within their community. The Nation descends from Christian Indigenous peoples of various tribes from Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Long Island, coming together in the 1700s. Today, they operate under a Constitutional government with officers and a council, and have divisions for administration, culture, economic development, land management, and environmental resources, as well as a judicial system. They actively engage in cultural preservation, community events like Bingo, and support initiatives such as the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples task force and local community outreach.
