“Quilt as desired” Well, what does that mean???
There are a lot of techniques for quilting your projects – but instructions are scattered all over and not always easy to find. This class will explore some of the options and give you a chance to try each of them. We will not be creating a finished piece, but we will create sampler squares.
For example:
Marking directly on the quilt – what options work for creating stitching lines – straight, diagonal, crosshatch etc. Tracing around found objects to create designs.
using stencils – how to mark a quilt using a stencil – looking for continuous line designs, making stencils fit in the space you have
Copying designs and using Golden Threads paper – how to place and stitch designs through paper.
Free motion meandering – loops, pebbles, and other designs
Using rulers with your machine to add to your design options.
We’ll also explore thread and batting options. If you’re uncomfortable with free motion quilting, this will be a good way to practice your skills. Make sure your machine can be set up – bring your instruction book if you’re not sure and don’t forget to bring your walking foot and a free motion foot.
