Program Topic: Nellie Was a Rebel - Using Unusual Sources to Find Her Child's Father Join us for a case study in how to utilize unusual, and little used sources, to unlock the stories of your ancestors. How did a discarded book provide clues to help solve a mystery and give more context to a family tragedy? This lecture examines the use of County Board Proceedings as a greatly underutilized source that can provide leads to fascinating details about your ancestor’s lives. Serendipity can happen to anyone! Presented by Mary Risseeuw Mary Risseeuw is a genealogist, historian, writer and lecturer. She has researched 19th & 20th century Dutch immigration to Wisconsin for over 30 years and has published and lectured throughout the U.S. and the Netherlands. She serves on the Board of the Association for the Advancement of Dutch American Studies and hosted their 2011 conference in WI. She also organized and hosted the Dutch in Wisconsin Conference in 2008; the first Dutch studies conference to focus solely on Dutch immigration to Wisconsin.
