Linton's Peanut Butter & Jam Sessions provides children, ages two to six, and their families the opportunity to enjoy classical music together. This series is educational, entertaining, and interactive! Peanut butter and Jam Sessions is an award-winning concert series that will touch, teach, and enrich your child's life. The Peanut Butter & Jam (PB&J) Sessions are the only classical music series in Greater Cincinnati specifically designed for preschool children. The PB&J Sessions are also unique in their format, which encourages children to become involved in the music making experience and invites parents and grandparents to share the experience with their children. Concerts explore a variety of instrumental combinations, including Irish Penny-Whistle, cello and piano; African percussion and Coke can rattles, piano trio and Madcap puppets, etc. During PB&J performances, children are invited to sit on the floor, inches away from the performers, thus allowing them to be “part of the action.” An educational coordinator trained in early childhood music hosts the concerts, leading the children in dances, beat patterns, songs, and question and answer sessions in order to guide and enhance the experience for both parents and children. At the end of concerts, children and parents are encouraged to greet the performers and get an up-close introduction to their instruments.
