Tiny Moments by Katrina Lukianchuk
Pop Up Exhibit July 31st - August 21st
Tiny Moments explores the everyday activities and experiences that shape life in the East Kootenays. Rather than depicting single scenes, each linocut composition is built from multiple small, hand-carved stamps. She captures the details of activities like hiking, gardening, outdoor sports, and time spent with others.
By bringing together these “tiny moments,” the work invites viewers to slow down and notice the often-overlooked elements that make up daily life and local culture. Rooted in both personal experience and a process-driven practice influenced by daily art challenges, the exhibition reflects a deep appreciation for creativity, community, and the rhythms of life in the mountains.
About the Artist
Katrina is a self-taught artist and has been practicing printmaking for the past 7 years. With a background in wildlife biology, she has always been fascinated with nature and her curiosity about the natural world inspires her art. She enjoys integrating nostalgic, abstract, and whimsical elements into her work, and takes pleasure in finding beauty in unexpected places. In addition to her current obsession with linocut, Katrina has always had a passion for drawing and likes to experiment playing with a variety of mediums. Katrina lives in Fernie with her partner and her pup and enjoys observing, exploring, and playing in the mountains all year round.
