Details:
Kids ages 6 and up join us as we travel back in time to 1776 and learn about Mary Katherine Goddard, who once lived in RI and was the only woman whose name was printed with the Declaration of Independence. We will explore how information was printed in 1776, create our own prints using paper, handmade print blocks, and ink, and take our picture with the William J. Stone engraving of the Declaration of Independence on display in the Library lobby. This program will begin at the scheduled time. Please arrive early! Reserved seats will be held only until the program start time. Unclaimed seats will be offered to unregistered guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to high demand for summer programs, we may not be able to accommodate late arrivals. 1823 William J. Stone engraving of the Declaration of Independence on display in the Library lobby, thanks to the Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies (FAPE) and Crayola Learning. The exhibition is part of FAPE and Crayolas Creative Freedom initiative, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States and the signing of this historic document. The FAPE replica, a generous gift from David M. Rubenstein, was installed by Crozier Fine Arts this winter and will be on public display at the library through July 7, 2026. ---
