Join us for two exciting events on food preservation and composting!
On Saturday, September 12th, 2026, from 10am-2pm at the United Methodist Church in Oakridge, OR, immerse yourself in the 2026 Oakridge Food Preservation Workshop focused on Pickling and Fermentation. Master the art of preserving vegetables and fruits through quick pickling and traditional lacto-fermentation, creating homemade pickles, kimchi, or kraut under the guidance of Lane County Master Food Preservers. The cost for this hands-on workshop is $16.
In addition, the OSU Extension Service in Eugene is offering FREE hands-on Compost Workshops for all skill levels. These workshops cover composting basics, materials usage, and various composting methods and bins. Attend without registration at the compost site next to the garage on 10th Avenue. For more information about composting and gardening, feel free to reach out to the Lane County Master Gardener Plant Clinic at 996 Jefferson Street or call (541) 344-5859.
Both events promote sustainable practices and offer valuable skills for preserving food and enriching gardens. Don't miss this chance to learn and enhance your home gardening and food preservation techniques!
