This event is an in-person training session for the canvassing event. Lunch will be provided!Join SNaHP for a community canvassing event opposing the WISeR Model, a new Medicare prior authorization initiative being piloted in several states that expands the use of AI in healthcare authorization decisions. This model threatens patient care by increasing prior authorization requirements, leading to more care denials and delays in accessing medically necessary services.Participants will help:Educate community membersabout the limitations of the WISeR Model and its potential impact on patients and providersEncourage advocacyby inviting community members to contact elected representatives and oppose the programListen to community experienceswith prior authorizations and other barriers to careThis event is an in-person training session for the canvassing event. Students will learn more about the WISeR Model, how it may impact patients and physicians, and ways to advocate for accessible, patient-centered healthcare. The training sessions are not mandatory but will be helpful in preparing for the canvassing event. You are also welcome to attend only the training session to learn more about the WISeR model and its implications. If you are unable to attend this in-person training, we are also hosting an online training session Wednesday June 3rd at 5-6 PM.
